Italy went by like a blur.

A fantastically wonderful blur, but a blur nonetheless.

I can remember it like it was yesterday. I was fourteen years old and delighted to be traveling through Italy. It was a dream come true. I was in love with the art, the architecture, the culture, and the language.

I was in love with everything, but the speed.

But oh, how I longed to linger…

Backpacking through Europe in my early twenties, I began to develop a much different rhythm. 

I began to linger at local cafes, savoring my coffee and making long journal entries.

I began to strike up conversations with locals who would invite me into their homes, cook food for me, and introduce me to their cities and villages.

I would meet their friends and neighbors.

No longer was I just seeing a beautiful blur go by, I was engaging with the local culture in a completely new and fresh way.

As I did so, I began to discover new aspects of myself, and I began to experience the transformative power of exploring new places and new cultures in this way.

Many years later, this is what is at the heart of Transylvania Driver.
